The PA Forum membership is fortunate in that it draws from so many different industries, demographics and types of roles to make up a rich and diverse community. Every member has a unique journey that has brought them to becoming a member and in many cases, taking the step to enter the PA Awards and even winning an award. Matthew Munro-King works for Eversheds Sutherland as Business Support Team Leader and is reaping the benefits of joining the PA Awards committee to give back and also help with the awards especially after enjoying being nominated for an award himself in 2024. Matthew’s journey looks like this:
I’ve had an incredibly fortunate and diverse career journey! From my first ‘proper’ job as a master baker for nine years at a supermarket to becoming a master banker in the back office of one of the big financial providers for 15 years, and now, I’m thriving as a Business Support Team Leader in the Legal sector for nearly six years. Throughout these roles, I’ve always believed that recognition is a powerful (and easy!) tool to create a positive work environment. As a leader, it’s even more crucial because it helps motivate and nurture the team. Recognising someone’s efforts can make a world of difference, boosting their morale and showing them that their hard work is valued.
I’ve always admired the incredible work and impact the PA Forum has on the PA community. After my own nomination for the 2024 Project Team Lead of the Year, I felt inspired to get involved! And what better way than joining as a Committee member for the 2025 West Midlands PA Awards? I believe that giving a bit of my time to this cause is time well spent, especially if it can bring happiness to someone who has done something outstanding and selfless.
I’ve already met a fantastic group of individuals from various businesses and sectors, and I look forward to working with them on this journey. Reading the nominations for 2025 PA Awards has made me realise just how many amazing people are out there! I’ve learned so much and taken away great examples just by reading about the incredible work and behaviours others have shown.
