Karen Allen has worked at Intercity for two years and is incredibly passionate about the business support industry especially as it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves and never really has. Here we find out more about her thoughts and experiences in the business support industry.
Why do you feel so passionately about creating awareness of Business Support as a Profession and as a Career?
I feel so passionately about the Business Support profession because when I was at school, we never had anything like this or even having people come into school to talk about careers or profession. I feel it’s a profession that doesn’t get spoken about and we need to shout out more about it and how great the profession is.
Do you personally get involved in outreach projects within your role or was this your first experience?
I sure do and as much as possible.
Was the business supportive of your involvement and what would you take back and share about your experience?
They sure were and thought it was an amazing thing to be apart of. I would advise people to get involved in as many of these events as possible.
What did you personally take away from the experience and do you feel there is more to be done?
That not a lot of students know these days what the business support profession is all about and what roles are within the profession and what we do on a daily basis. I feel we need to do more of these events and get into more schools to let the next generation what we are all about!
